The blade collector, Dr. Tom Wiltzius, is a decorated Vietnam Veteran, having served in Vietnam as an Army Photojournalist, and served as a Public Affairs Officer during Operation Desert Shield. For over 30 years, Tom has been collecting military swords, sabers, bayonets, and knives made at the Springfield Armory. His collection of Springfield swords and sabers is the most comprehensive collection in private hands.
Art of the Blade features the largest private collection of swords and sabers from the Springfield Armory in Springfield, Massachusetts. While the National Armory at Springfield, as it was historically known, was most active in producing muskets, rifles, and bayonets for the U.S. Army, the swords and sabers to come from of the armory for American Servicemen are renowned for their design and production.
