Get Started with Email and Email Marketing

Are you looking to get started with email, but don’t know where to start? On this page we will review all you need to know about email and email marketing so you can get started.

Before getting started you will first need an email account. Some examples of free email providers include Yahoo, Gmail, or Outlook. We will be using the provider of Gmail in our tutorial below as we share how an individual, a club, or an organization can benefit from using email.

Set up your email account using Gmail

  • Go to www.gmail.com.
  • Click on “Create Account.”
  • A sign-up form will appear. Follow the directions by entering the required information. This is where you will set up your Email address and password for logging in.
  • To verify your account, Google will ask you to enter a phone number. They will send a verification code to this number. Once you receive the code, enter it into the provided area.
  • Continue following the form instructions. The form will end with a review of Google’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. When you are finished reviewing these, click “I agree.”
  • Your account is created.

Email Marketing

Though in recent years the use of social media in marketing has significantly increased, email is still an effective form of both communication and marketing for any small or large organization.

What is Email Marketing?

Email marketing uses email to promote products and/or services. To dig further, email marketing is also a way to develop relationships with potential members. It is extremely similar to direct mail, but instead of sending mail through the postal service, messages are sent electronically via email.
